Archive Witness is provided by Teal Horse, LLC. We collect only the information needed to operate the website, contact service, licensing, updates, security, and support.
Information we collect
- Website and contact form: ordinary server/security data such as IP address, request time, requested path, browser/user agent, and security events. If you contact us, we receive the topics you select, your email address, your message, and your name if you provide it.
- Turnstile: Cloudflare receives the verification token and, when available, your source IP to determine whether a contact submission is legitimate.
- Licensing and updates: requests may include application version/channel, license or entitlement state, signed request data, ordinary request metadata, an opaque Windows-derived device binding, and whether Windows sourced its device ID from TPM, UEFI, or Registry. Beta grant/renewal history retains its issuance and expiration times, trusted source IP, client version, opaque binding, and source category so the beta can be operated and active devices counted. Activation/deactivation security history retains the same limited context for the life of the licensing record to investigate stolen keys and support transfers. The raw Windows SystemId is neither sent nor stored.
- Archive evidence: archive paths, filenames, checksums, media-test results, catalog history, and related evidence remain local unless you deliberately choose to share them. The licensing service does not receive raw hardware identifiers or archive evidence, and its audit history does not retain raw license keys or request bodies.
Why we use it
We use this information to operate and secure Archive Witness, verify licenses and provide updates, respond to support and security requests, prevent abuse, and meet legal or compliance obligations when required.
Sharing and service providers
Archive Witness uses service providers including Cloudflare for public-edge security and Turnstile, Google Workspace for contact email delivery, and AWS S3 for downloadable release files. Hosting providers may also process ordinary server traffic.
We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. We may disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect the service, users, or our legal rights.
Retention and your rights
Contact/support records and ordinary operational records are kept only as long as reasonably needed for their purpose, security, dispute handling, or legal obligations. Beta grant/renewal history is retained to operate and measure the beta program. Activation/deactivation security history is retained for the life of the licensing record for key-theft investigation and license-transfer support.
Depending on where you live, applicable privacy law may give you rights to request access, correction, deletion, or other handling of personal information. Submit privacy questions or requests through the Archive Witness contact form and select Support.
